Body Wellness and Sobadas
My path in body care combines training in massage therapy, extracurricular education, and knowledge passed down through ancestral traditions. In 2021, I graduated in massage therapy from Puerto Rico Massage & Bodywork, and I have continued my training through lymphatic drainage workshops at the Chickly Institute in the United States, as well as other body wellness techniques.
My roots are also part of this journey. My grandmother, Doña María, was a traditional spiritual healer and curandera, and I feel that this connection to traditional care practices is part of my history. I traveled to Yucatán, Mexico, where I learned from Doña Rafaela about Mayan abdominal massage and hip closing, rooted in an Indigenous tradition. I have also taken online courses on the Peruvian hip-closing technique and herbal vaginal steaming through the Steamy Chick Institute.
These experiences enrich the way I support families, integrating training, tradition, and respect for individual needs.
Prenatal and Postpartum Sobada
We offer prenatal and postpartum sobada sessions focused on relaxation, rest, and the mother's overall well-being. Through gentle movements, massage adapted to each stage, and the use of a rebozo and oils, we aim to relieve muscle tension and discomfort, promote relaxation, and provide a space for rest, connection, and self-care.
During pregnancy, we encourage connection with the body and emotional preparation for birth. During the postpartum period, we offer a moment of rest, support, and recovery, honoring each mother's physical and emotional needs.
Hip Closing Ceremony
A ceremony of support, connection, and transition that honors the experiences of pregnancy, birth, motherhood, loss, and grief. This personalized experience, lasting approximately 90 minutes, includes a relaxing Swedish massage, traditional Mayan abdominal massage (sobada), and body closing with rebozos, using five points of wrapping that provide a feeling of embrace and support.
It is an intimate space to rest, reconnect with the body, process emotions, and integrate lived experiences, respecting each person's time, needs, and story. It can be adapted for postpartum mothers, after a cesarean birth, following pregnancy loss, or during other transitions and grieving processes.
A loving pause to honor the journey traveled, regain your center, and continue the process of physical and emotional healing.
Mayan Abdominal Massage
Mayan abdominal sobada is a traditional body wellness practice with Mayan roots that uses gentle, mindful manual movements to promote relaxation, connection with the body, and a sense of balance and overall well-being.
It is intended for people of different ages and stages of life, regardless of whether they have been pregnant or have had children. The session is adapted to individual needs and can provide a space for care for those experiencing menstrual discomfort, lower back pain, or navigating conditions and experiences related to endometriosis, infertility, uterine fibroids, or pregnancy loss. It is an opportunity to reconnect with the body through a traditional, respectful, and individualized approach, as a complement to, but not a substitute for, medical care. This session includes an herbal vaginal steam bath.
